Today, we are proud to launch NYCHA PARTY — a movement built by public-housing residents for one clear promise: a real, funded path from lifelong tenants to proud homeowners, anchored on a $75,000 homeownership benefit for qualifying NYCHA families.
For too long, the conversation about public housing has been about what residents can't do. We are here to talk about what we can — and will — do together:
- Down-payment and closing-cost support of $75,000 for qualifying families.
- Resident ownership stakes in every redevelopment of NYCHA housing.
- Free homebuyer education, counseling, and credit coaching.
- Get-out-the-vote and tenant organizing in every development.
It has been done before
NYCHA's FHA Homes Program has already helped 300+ residents become homeowners. Habitat for Humanity NYC is building green, resident-owned homes on former NYCHA land. The Chicago Housing Authority runs a resident down-payment grant today. This is not a dream — it is unfinished business.
